We’ve got big office updates that we’re so excited to share!
Reviewed on 07/2022
We have three really fun and major announcements to share! The first two are below, the third is in the works. As soon as it’s official we’ll add it to this blog post and share it on our social media channels.
These announcements were already made through our weekly emails, so if you’re a loyal subscriber, you might already be in the know! If you’re not signed up for our weekly emails, you’re definitely missing out. Email us at hello@digestiontherapy.com and tell us you’d like to join our community.
Now for our announcements…
1. We’re finally moving into our new office!
Can you think of a time when something didn’t go as planned?
Oh wait, that’s been all of 2020 so far…am I right!?
When I signed the lease for our new office on February 28th of this year, I had no idea that a pandemic was right around the corner.
In mid-March as my husband and I watched the news and realized what life was about to look like, I started to panic. I probably spent three days in a state of complete shock repeating “I just can’t believe something like this is even possible…” and then I would say “Blake, I just really feel like the world completely turned upside down overnight!” to which he would respond “Well, it kind of did…”
It took a few days of processing what was happening before I could really wrap my head around coming up with a game plan for functioning as a family during a pandemic. I wrote about our experience and how we managed the pandemic with a toddler and two full-time jobs during quarantine here.
While the pandemic isn’t over, we’re working towards a more sustainable form of normal in our house. Earlier this month, my husband and I decided it was time to put our son back in daycare. This decision is giving me time and space to be able to move into the new office which is super exciting and longggg overdue!
We will be seeing clients in person as soon as we feel it is safe for everyone. In the meantime, we are continuing to use Zoom video conferencing for our appointments.

Also, be sure to note our new address and new phone number (we’ve upgraded our phone system, too!)

2. We’ve got a baby girl on the way!
I can already tell you this is going to be one tough little girl. After surviving cancer and chemotherapy during Andrew’s first year of life, my husband and I weren’t even sure if I would be able to have more children. And actually, in January I had lab work done that indicated I was in chemo-induced menopause. Sound unbelievable? Trust me, I wish I was making this stuff up!
I’ll be sharing my entire cancer story soon, so stay tuned for that.
Finding out I was in early menopause totally sucked – I wanted nothing more than to have more children. It’s also not good for your health for hormone levels to decline so early in life.
Once I processed the news, I pulled myself together and started taking a holistic approach. I got to work trying to understand WHY my body wasn’t producing adequate hormone levels. My first thoughts were nutrient deficiencies and inflammation.
Even though my diet has always been healthy and I’ve always kept up with a great supplement regimen, chemo is incredibly nutrient depleting. The stress and trauma that come with a cancer diagnosis are also insanely nutrient depleting. Not to mention my chemotherapy followed directly behind pregnancy and six months of exclusive breastfeeding. Both of which are very demanding on your body, requiring many nutrients.
I took a micronutrient test, and it turns out I had several nutrient deficiencies (some of the nutrients I was deficient in actually play a role in producing estrogen). Of course, I started supplementing right away. I also used LEAP/MRT to detox and reset, getting rid of any inflammation that might be distracting my body from doing what it needed to do to finish healing.
My end goal was to be able to have more children one day (you know, like in a year or two), I wasn’t expecting a literal miracle. So, imagine our surprise when we found out I was pregnant in early May!
We’re incredibly thankful, still in shock, and can’t wait to meet this sweet girl.
Thank you for being a part of this community and sharing in this journey with us.

We’re re-branding!
I’ll be honest, I’ve always seen other entrepreneurs re-brand and been a little (or a lot) judgmental about it. I’ve always viewed re-branding as a waste of time, a complete distraction and a stall tactic.
Whoops. I shouldn’t have been so quick to judge. 🙈
Here’s the scoop on our re-brand:
Our new name
If all goes according to plan, on September 30th, our website will rollover and we will officially be operating under….
(drum roll please)
The Nutrition Clinic for Digestive Health
What current clients need to know
- All of our services and programs will remain the same. There will be absolutely no interruptions or any changes in service affecting current clients.
- The ownership of the business is not changing.
- The only things affecting our current clients will be the new email addresses and our new domain name. We’ve got a couple of things in place to make this super simple:
- The Balance Fitness and Nutrition website will automatically redirect to the new site, The Nutrition Clinic for Digestive Health
- This means you can continue to type in our current web address and you’ll arrive at the new website
- We will have email forwarding in place for at least six months after we transition – so you can contact us through our current email addresses
- The Balance Fitness and Nutrition website will automatically redirect to the new site, The Nutrition Clinic for Digestive Health
Why are we re-branding?
Great question! And “Why now?” is probably another good one! Believe it or not, there’s a couple of things going on that actually make this the perfect time for us to re-brand.
Logistically, we’ve just moved and set up a new phone system. This means we need to update all of our directory listings, this website and also get new business cards. It also means we need to order signage. It’s more time and cost efficient to change everything at once.
From a business perspective we’ve been working on identifying and attracting our ideal clients (on a high level this is people with digestive issues who want to solve their digestive problems using food as medicine) for the past two years.
We’ve made a lot of progress in this area – I can’t tell you how much I love hearing “I saw your website and this is just what I’m looking for!” from prospective clients. It’s how I know our marketing efforts have us moving in the right direction.
Before we started niching down and intentionally attracting our ideal client, I was running the business as a generalist. This happens to be a common entrepreneurial mistake – not wanting to leave any potential customer untapped.
The more I’ve learned about marketing, the more I’ve realized there are lots of reasons NOT to “help everyone with everything food related.”
As a company, we’ve held meetings to discuss the types of cases we’re really good at solving and that we love working with. It became clear that digestive health should be our area of focus. Not to say we can’t or don’t help with other things…but if someone wants to find a dietitian who specializes in digestive health, we want to make it super clear to them that we have what they are looking for.
The goal of the business now is to make it easy for people who are looking for our services to be able to find us. Operating under the name Balance Fitness and Nutrition isn’t clear for potential clients who are looking for a digestive health specialist. However, if we are operating under The Nutrition Clinic for Digestive Health, it quickly becomes really clear to potential clients that we specialize in digestive health.
And that’s really why we’re here – we care and we want to help. We’re doing this to make it easier for people who need our help to be able to find us.
What to expect over the next couple of weeks
We’ll be working really hard to get everything switched over. We’re going to start by updating our email platform and website. We’ll then move on to social media channels and our directory listings to make everything cohesive.
If all of that happens in a timely manner, we will then roll out additional updates and enhancements to the website to improve the user experience.
Here’s to hoping and praying that all of these moving pieces fit nicely together!
